This year, IHH Singapore became the first private healthcare provider to host the Patient Safety Singapore Community of Practice, with the support of the Ministry of Health. The session brought together healthcare professionals from the public and private sectors to exchange perspectives on the evolving role of technology in delivering safer patient care.

Discussions explored emerging applications ranging from artificial intelligence in clinical practice to smart medical devices, as well as the potential risks accompanying an increasingly technology-enabled healthcare environment. Participants also considered how these risks can be anticipated and managed through appropriate governance, monitoring and continuous learning.

A key takeaway was clear: technology alone does not improve patient safety. Its benefits are realised when innovation is introduced intentionally, supported by robust safeguards and continually refined through experience and evidence.
