Pantai Hospital Melaka, part of IHH Healthcare, has become the first hospital in Malaysia to launch a Smart Fridge micro-inventory hub for selected oncology medicines, marking a significant step forward in improving access to cancer treatment.
Developed in collaboration with Roche Malaysia and Zuellig Pharma Malaysia, the Smart Fridge system enables selected oncology medicines to be stored safely on site, helping ensure treatments are available when needed. For eligible patients, this may reduce waiting times and allow treatment to begin sooner.
The technology supports secure storage and real-time inventory monitoring, helping healthcare teams manage medicines more efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards. It also reduces the risk of medication wastage by ensuring medicines are stocked according to patient needs.
For patients undergoing cancer treatment, timely access to medicines can play an important role in supporting a smoother treatment journey. By bringing selected oncology medicines closer to the point of care, the initiative helps improve operational efficiency while enhancing the patient experience.
