Healthcare leaders from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and overseas came together at BIOHK2026 to exchange perspectives on how greater international collaboration can advance healthcare innovation and access.
Dr Kenneth Tsang, Regional CEO of IHH Healthcare North Asia and CEO of Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong, joined a panel discussion exploring developments shaping the future of healthcare, including international clinical research, cross-border care, artificial intelligence and emerging medical technologies.
During the discussion, Dr Tsang highlighted Hong Kong’s potential to serve as a bridge between the Chinese Mainland and international markets. As an established centre for clinical trials, Hong Kong can support innovative biopharmaceuticals and medical technologies in navigating international regulatory pathways, helping promising innovations reach wider markets through clinical research and cross-border collaboration.
Artificial intelligence was another key area of discussion. As healthcare organisations increasingly adopt AI across clinical and operational settings, Dr Tsang emphasised the importance of responsible implementation supported by robust governance and a continued focus on patient safety.
He also highlighted workforce readiness as an important part of this transformation. Equipping healthcare professionals with the skills to use emerging technologies effectively will be essential to translating innovation into meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery.
As healthcare systems become increasingly interconnected, stronger collaboration across markets can help accelerate research, support responsible adoption of new technologies and bring healthcare innovation closer to the patients and communities it is designed to serve.
