Celebrate our Brunei colleagues for stepping beyond the hospital walls to make a real, measurable impact on the environment.

On 6 December, Gleneagles JPMC, Brunei completed its first beach clean-up initiative at Jerudong Beach, organised in collaboration with The Beach Bunch.
Led by the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Dr Peter Tay, the activity brought together a committed group of staff volunteers who came together with a shared goal of contributing to the community beyond clinical care.
“This initiative reflects the heart of who we are at Gleneagles JPMC; a team committed not only to healthcare excellence, but also to making a positive difference in our community. Seeing so many of our staff volunteer their time today is truly encouraging, and I hope this marks the beginning of many more sustainability-led efforts,” said Dr Peter Tay.
Through the team’s collective effort, 418.2kg of waste was collected, a meaningful outcome that underscores both the environmental pressures faced by local shorelines and the impact that coordinated action can achieve.
This initiative represents a significant step in Gleneagles JPMC’s sustainability journey, as it broadens its CSR focus to include environmental stewardship and reinforces its commitment to the communities it serves. The hospital also extends its appreciation to the volunteers and partners whose support made this effort possible.
Looking ahead, Gleneagles JPMC aims to develop more programmes that create sustained, positive outcomes for the environment and the wider community.
