After nearly two years of misdiagnosis, a 14-year-old boy suffering from a rare nasal tumour found a new lease of life at Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta Road.

Rohan (name changed) had long struggled with repeated nosebleeds, nasal blockage and chronic cough. At Fortis, our specialists identified the true cause: Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma, a rare and highly vascular tumour seen only in adolescent boys and often mistaken for common infections.
The ENT team led by Dr Susheen Dutt and Dr Ashish Rao performed a minimally invasive trans-nasal endoscopic procedure, removing the tumour completely without external cuts and with minimal blood loss. He was discharged the next day and has since returned to normal activities.
Rohan’s mother expressed her relief after two years of uncertainty, highlighting the impact of timely and precise care.
“This case demonstrates the expertise of our ENT team in managing rare head and neck tumours,” said Dr Thejaswini Parthasarathy, Facility Director of Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta Road. “Our focus remains on patient-centred care that delivers faster recovery and stronger outcomes.”
