IHH Healthcare Singapore and Medistra Hospital have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance liver disease services and strengthen healthcare quality across the region.

The partnership will enhance cross-border collaboration in developing centres of clinical excellence, multidisciplinary case discussions, training and knowledge transfer for healthcare professionals, and strengthening clinical governance frameworks.
The MoU signing was held in conjunction with a scientific session themed “Liver Diseases in Indonesia: Current Challenges and the Evolving Role of Liver Transplantation.” Dr Ek Khoon Tan, General Surgeon (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary & Transplant) from Gleneagles Hospital Singapore, shared insights on the latest developments in liver transplantation as a therapeutic option for end-stage liver disease. The event brought together Medistra Hospital’s management, specialist physicians, referral partners and IHH Healthcare Singapore delegates.
Mr Thomas Wee, CEO of Gleneagles Hospital Singapore, said:
“Healthcare today is no longer confined by borders. Medical tourism is no longer just about treating travellers. It is about building a regional ecosystem where hospitals collaborate, where knowledge flows freely, and where patients can access the best possible care regardless of geography.”
Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to drive innovation, strengthen clinical capabilities, and improve patient outcomes in Indonesia and beyond.
