General practitioners (GPs) are often the first point of care. When specialist support is required, that transition should not feel like starting over. Ensuring that a patient’s story and clinical context move seamlessly across providers is essential to delivering more coordinated, patient-centred care.

As part of this broader effort, IHH Healthcare Malaysia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Malaysian Medical Association and Monash University Malaysia to enhance collaboration between GPs and specialists.

By introducing structured learning pathways and deepening GP-to-specialist linkages, it aims to support GPs in managing more complex conditions within the community, while enabling smoother transitions into specialist care when needed.
