Helping with Hong Kong's Mass Testing for COVID-19
14 Sep 2020

Our 21-member team of doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and medical and nursing students from Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong recently received encouragement and recognition from Hong Kong’s Chief Secretary for Administration Mr Matthew Cheung for volunteering their services at the Wong Chuk Hang COVID-19 testing centre.

The centre is one of the 141 testing centres set up across the city’s 18 districts as part of Hong Kong’s Universal Community Testing Programme launched on 1 September.

The citywide Universal Community Testing Programme offers free COVID-19 swab tests to all Hong Kong residents, with the aim to find asymptomatic patients as early as possible for early identification, isolation and treatment so as to cut the virus transmission chain in the community.

Within the first week of the launch, the team had performed a substantial number of tests for members of the public. Mr Cheung expressed his gratitude to our medical volunteers for their professionalism in managing the testing centre and the hospital’s continuous support to the Hong Kong government in combating the pandemic.

It recently partnered HKT, Hong Kong's premier telecommunications service provider, to launch the DrGo app which offers telemedicine and drug delivery services to make healthcare more convenient for our patients.
