The IHH Sky Race Reaches New Heights at Merdeka 118
23 Aug 2026
A record-setting weekend brought together thousands of participants at one of the world’s most iconic towers, celebrating personal achievement, healthier living and the strength of community.

Every finisher crossed the line with a story.

Some arrived at Level 118 chasing a personal best. Others were completing their first towerrunning challenge, climbing alongside friends, family members or colleagues. Across the weekend, participants celebrated personal milestones, earned places on the podium and transformed a demanding climb into an experience they will remember for years to come.

Held on 22 and 23 August 2026, The IHH Sky Race | Merdeka 118 challenged participants to ascend 118 floors and 2,845 steps to the top of Merdeka 118, Malaysia’s tallest building and the second tallest building in the world. The expanded two-day event welcomed elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts and everyday participants to take on one of Kuala Lumpur’s most distinctive sporting challenges.

The weekend concluded with a significant milestone as The IHH Sky Race was recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for the Most Finishers in a Towerrunning Race.

A total of 7,797 finishers completed the climb, making the achievement not only a record for the event, but also a reflection of the determination of every participant who took on all 118 floors. The IHH Sky Race

Behind the number were thousands of individual journeys. Every step represented preparation, perseverance and the decision to keep moving forward, even when the climb became difficult.

The occasion was especially meaningful for IHH Healthcare Malaysia in its first year as Title Partner and Official Medical Partner of the race.

The event marked the beginning of a three-year partnership focused on encouraging people to take a more active role in their health and wellbeing. Beyond supporting the race itself, IHH Healthcare Malaysia’s involvement encompasses community engagement, health and wellness initiatives, pre-event activities and on-site medical services. As Dr Kamal Amzan, Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare Malaysia, shared when the partnership was announced: “Good health is built long before someone needs a hospital.”

That belief was brought to life throughout the race weekend. Better health is shaped through everyday choices, from staying active and setting personal goals to challenging ourselves to go further than we thought possible.

In supporting The IHH Sky Race, we were not simply watching a sporting event grow. We were witnessing a community form around a shared commitment to movement, resilience and healthier living.

The race has found its rhythm, and we are proud to be part of where it goes next.

Congratulations to every participant, finisher, volunteer and partner who made this record-setting weekend possible. We look forward to climbing even higher together in 2027.
