Fighting on Multiple Fronts
26 Feb 2020

More than 240 staff volunteered for temperature screening duties at Singapore’s land and sea border checkpoints, sacrificing their personal time during the Lunar New Year festive period to help keep the nation safe. A Command Centre was set up to coordinate, monitor and disseminate timely and useful information to staff and doctors across Singapore Operations, after the country raised its disease alert level from yellow to orange on 7 February.

Hospital Warriors

Our healthcare workers and frontliners have been working tirelessly to keep the virus out and to keep our patients safe. Despite the long hours and stress, they continue to carry out their duties with professionalism and rigour.

Their hard work has won them deep appreciation from the rest of our colleagues, who have showered them with well-wishes and thoughtful gifts such as cupcakes and chocolate.

Border Warriors

Over the Chinese New Year festive period, more than 240 staff volunteered as temporary healthcare assistants at Singapore’s land and sea border checkpoints.

Despite the long 12-hour shifts, morale on the ground was high as staff carried out temperature screening of travellers. Meanwhile, 20 human resource staff were also rostered to Parkway Shenton’s HR Command Centre to assist in the calling, coordinating and rostering of staff.

Command Centre Warriors

A command centre chaired by Dr Noel Yeo, CEO of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, has been set up to coordinate, monitor and disseminate information to relevant parties across Singapore Operations. It also serves as the contact point between the hospitals as the Ministry of Health and other external agencies. Comprising a cross-functional team, the Command Centre plays a key role in sharing daily updates to all staff on precautionary measures and crisis management efforts.

Power Warriors

As part of disease control, all staff are required to take their temperature twice daily. To facilitate this, our IT team has leveraged Power Apps for submission of temperature recordings. The application is also able to capture details of medical leave, leave of absence and quarantine period.
