Elevating Public Health In Brunei
22 Jun 2023

For the 5th consecutive year, Gleneagles JPMC has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Brunei Health Ministry to promote healthy lifestyle among offer workers and students, with the goal of reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases. The hospital made a BND$250,000 donation to fund this.

At the MOU signing event on 12 June, Dr Peter Tay, CEO of Gleneagles JPMC, presented the hospital’s donation that will go into funding and enhancing various healthy lifestyle programmes.

These programmes include WAH (Workplace & Health), HEAL (Happy Environment & Lifestyle) and the newly launched GLOW (Growing, Learning, Optimising towards Better Well-being in Schools).

In his speech, Dr Peter Tay said, “Today, the world is witnessing an epidemic of lifestyle diseases otherwise known as Non-Communicable Diseases. These include obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke and cancer. The World Health Organization has declared a war on lifestyle diseases and here in Brunei, under the Wawasan Brunei Darussalam 2035, one of the main goals is to focus on achieving a high quality of life, and this includes self-development and adopting a healthy lifestyle.”

Our deepest appreciation to Guest of Honour, Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham Haji Jaafar for gracing the occasion.

As IHH seeks to #CareForGood, we will continue to strengthen our commitment to uplift the health of our communities across our markets.
