When Singapore instituted border screening in January, hundreds of our Parkway Shenton colleagues and volunteers from across SOD sacrificed their Chinese New Year celebrations, family reunions and rest days to conduct temperature screening for incoming visitors at Singapore’s land and sea border checkpoints.
Our hospitals also started receiving and treating COVID-19 patients to help ease the patient load at restructured hospitals. Despite coming from non-clinical backgrounds, many of our colleagues from corporate functions bravely volunteered to conduct COVID-19 swab testing at the front line alongside our nurses.
Hundreds of our colleagues were involved in COVID-19 operations at the Community Care Facility at Singapore Expo, as well as migrant worker dormitories, regional screening centres and swing facilities. Throughout this period, our laboratory colleagues worked tirelessly to process the thousands of swabs coming in each day.
Even as the team concludes most of its COVID-19 commitments, our hospitals remain on standby, continuing to receive small numbers of COVID-19 patients. ParkwayHealth Laboratory continues to increase its testing capacity to support Singapore’s mass testing strategy.
