Fighting Monsoon Maladies
25 Aug 2019

The recent monsoon season in Hyderabad has caused a spike in infectious diseases spreading rapidly throughout the city. In response, Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Lakdi-ka-pul launched its Fever Clinic on 26 August, bringing together a multi-disciplinary team to treat monsoon fever-related emergencies such as malaria, dengue, typhoid, cholera and hepatitis A.

Dr Srinivasulu Talacheru, Senior Consultant, General Physician & Diabetologist at Gleneagles Global Hospitals, said, “Early diagnosis is key to preventing complications due to the monsoon fevers. We have seen more and more patients with fever viruses suffering from several complications as they were unable to seek diagnoses and treatment in time. It is imperative to educate patients on preventive measures and get them treated as soon as possible.”

“The Fever Clinic will promote health awareness and disease prevention by sharing healthy practices and information regarding the various monsoon fevers to help people look out for warning signs,” added Dr Sheetal Kumar, Consultant, General Physician & Diabetologist at Gleneagles Global Hospitals.

The new Fever Clinic has a dedicated fever outpatient department and inpatients wards for patients suffering from infectious diseases. Laboratories are equipped with rapid diagnostic tests with the capability to perform sophisticated diagnostics. Specialists will also promote a disease-free society by offering health awareness talks and special fever camps in the city.
