A New Chapter Begins: Island Hospital Joins the IHH Network
22 Nov 2024

On 4 November 2024, IHH Healthcare proudly welcomed Island Hospital, Penang into our expanding network in Malaysia, marking an exciting step toward delivering seamless, world-class healthcare across the region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Island Hospital as the newest member of IHH Healthcare. With its strong reputation for clinical excellence and appeal to international patients, Island Hospital significantly enhances our leadership in healthcare and medical tourism offerings in Malaysia,” shared Ashok Pandit, Group Chief Corporate Officer, IHH Healthcare.

At the inaugural staff town hall held on 5 November, Jean-François Naa, CEO of IHH Malaysia and Ivan Loh, COO of IHH Malaysia and Regional CEO for Northern Malaysia, celebrated the integration of Island Hospital, presenting a shared vision of patient-centred care, along with expanded resources, development opportunities, and upskilling programmes.

As Penang’s largest private hospital, Island Hospital brings nearly 120 specialists across nine Centers of Excellence, including orthopedics, cardiology, oncology, gastroenterology, and general surgery. This acquisition aligns with IHH’s commitment to provide quality care for both local and international patients.

Following IHH’s acquisition of Island Hospital, Ivan Loh will focus on his roles as COO of IHH Malaysia and Regional CEO for Northern Malaysia, leading integration efforts and elevating Island Hospital’s clinical and service improvements, while Lim Kooi Ling takes on the role as the CEO of Island Hospital.

“The addition of Island Hospital to our IHH Malaysia network marks an important milestone in our commitment to enhancing the quality and accessibility of care in Malaysia,” said Jean-François Naa. “Building on our proven track record of operational excellence, we will further strengthen Island Hospital’s capabilities by introducing more advanced treatments and improving patient experiences.”

With Island Hospital, IHH is well-positioned to meet Malaysia’s increasing healthcare needs, reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable, integrated network that advances medical tourism and elevates national healthcare standards.
