One Up for Pantai

Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok, formerly known as Amanjaya Specialist Centre, was officially launched by YAB Dato’ Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, Chief Minister of Kedah, on 7 November. It is the second Pantai Hospital to operate in Kedah alongside Pantai Hospital Sungai Petani and also our 11th Pantai Hospital in Malaysia.

At the launch ceremony, the Chief Minister presented a cheque for RM10,000 to the Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani on behalf of the hospital. This fund was raised through a charity run on 2 November that drew over 1,000 participants including Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok doctors, nurses, staff, corporate partners and members of the public.

The rebranding took place about a year after Amanjaya Specialist Centre was fully acquired by IHH Healthcare in October last year. As the “First Green Hospital in Malaysia”; Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok is the first purpose-built hospital in Malaysia to incorporate green technology and design in its construction and operations, focusing on providing patient comfort.

The hospital offers a range of services including cardiology, orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics, nephrology, radiology, ear, nose and throat surgery, general surgery, general medicine, psychiatry, rheumatology and anaesthesiology.

With the addition of Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok in Kedah, the two hospitals will work closely to meet the healthcare needs of the community. Since last year, we have been streamlining our operations and services. Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok has also strengthened its clinical expertise with the joining of Dr Choo Yah Wui, the only female private General Surgeon in Kedah with a special interest in breast surgery, and Dr Shazly Safian, the only Muslim private General Surgeon to perform circumcision procedure and other surgical cases in Kuala Muda District."
