On 29 April, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram (Fortis Hospital, Gurugram) brought the community together in a powerful show of solidarity with its “Red Run to End Thalassaemia”.
The event drew more than 2,500 passionate participants who walked and ran a 5-kilometre route to raise awareness about Thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder.
What made it truly remarkable was the resounding support from over 30 Thalassaemia societies across India, reflecting a nationwide collaborative effort to drive awareness, action, and hope for those affected.
The walkathon was flagged off by key hospital leaders - Yash Rawat, Vice President & Facility Director; Dr Rahul Bhargava, Principal Director & Chief, Bone Marrow Transplant; and Dr Vikas Dua, Principal Director & Head – Paediatric Bone Marrow Transplant.
Both Dr Rahul and Dr Vikas delivered inspiring messages on the transformative potential of early diagnosis and advanced treatment, reinforcing the fact that Thalassaemia can be cured with timely medical intervention.
Adding star power to the event was TV actor and Thalassaemia India’s brand ambassador, Jackie Shroff, who joined as Chief Guest. His passionate advocacy and presence not only energised the crowd, it also added momentum to the mission to ending Thalassaemia.
Senior Fortis Healthcare leaders - including Managing Director & CEO Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Group Head - Medical Strategy and Operations Dr Bishnu Panigrahi, and Chief Growth & Innovation Officer Dr Ritu Garg - also attended, lending strong support to the organisation’s commitment to combat Thalassaemia.
