Our Mount Elizabeth Hospitals celebrated their 40th anniversary on Saturday, 30 November.
The hospitals donated S$175,000 to the Autism Resource Centre (ARC) Singapore, which they have adopted as its charity partner.A cheque was presented from the CEOs of Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital to Ms Ho Ching, Advisor to ARC and Ms Denise Phua, President of ARC at the hospitals’ anniversary dinner at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.
The donation is part of our efforts in championing a more inclusive society and to celebrate the abilities of individuals with autism.
We are excited to be celebrating 40 years of clinical excellence and achievements made possible by the unwavering support of our doctors and staff. To mark this significant milestone, we mustn’t forget to also give back to society and remind ourselves that we should not only do well, but to do good too,”
- Dr Noel Yeo, Chief Executive Officer of Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
The Mount Elizabeth Hospitals will support ARC in empowering individuals with autism to fulfil their greatest potential and ensure they will have equal opportunities to succeed in life,”
- Stephens Lo, Chief Executive Officer of Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.
Earlier this year, the hospitals organised and participated in various activities around this goal. One initiative involved Secondary students with autism from Pathlight School taking part in a first-of-its kind Learning Journey event at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital in July.
Mount Elizabeth Hospital also recently employed three persons with autism as healthcare assistants in its pharmacy in September 2019 – a first in this capacity in the healthcare sector.
These three individuals assist the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in their packing and labelling of medications before dispensing them for the patients.
Proceeds from the various fund-raising activities throughout the year and Saturday’s anniversary dinner will go directly to the charity.
