Promoting healthy lifestyles and preventive care while strengthening IHH Healthcare Malaysia's long-term commitment to the Indonesian community

IHH Healthcare Malaysia marked a significant milestone in its commitment to the Indonesian community by successfully hosting the inaugural IHH Healthcare Malaysia Batam 5K Fun Run, drawing 1,100 participants from Batam and surrounding areas in a celebration of health, wellness and community connection.

The fun run was co-organised with Gleneagles Hospital Johor and Pantai Hospital Melaka, creating a vibrant platform for the community and local stakeholders to come together through a shared commitment to healthy and active living. Beyond the race itself, participants were engaged through partner booths and wellness activities, all designed to inspire better lifestyle choices and a greater awareness of preventive care.

The event was officiated by Mr Tan Yew Aik, Regional CEO, Southern and East Malaysia, IHH Healthcare Malaysia alongside distinguished guests from the Indonesian government and healthcare community, including Wakil Pemerintah Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, Bapak Diky Wijaya, Kepala Dispora Kota Batam, Mr Zulkarnain, Kepala Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Kota Batam, Ardiwinata, Ketua Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI), representative Dr Eko dan representative from General Manager of Harbour Bay.

Speaking at the event, Head of Marketing IHH Healthcare Malaysia, Khairul Annuar Yusof, said, "As a healthcare provider, we have a responsibility to help people take earlier interest in their health, while making access to care clearer and more reassuring.”

“Batam has long been important to IHH Healthcare Malaysia and today’s Fun Run is a meaningful way for us to stay close to the community. Through our Batam Representative Office, patients and families have a local point of contact before they travel to Malaysia for care, helping them better understand their options and take the next step with greater confidence,” said Khairul.

As part of the event, proceeds from participant registrations were donated to Komunitas Kanker Batam to support the organisation's cancer outreach programmes and community initiatives across Batam.

Through its Batam Representative Office, IHH Healthcare Malaysia provides a dedicated local point of contact for patients and families seeking medical information, exploring treatment options or connecting with specialists across its hospital network in Malaysia.

Looking ahead, IHH Healthcare Malaysia will continue to build its presence in Indonesia through more patient touchpoints and closer community engagement, making care journey easier and more connected for patients.
