COVID-19 is testing the world like never before on many levels – strength of economies, leadership of public and private organisations, even the character of individuals. No one has been spared with the virus spreading across all races, religions and nationalities
A pandemic of this global scale underscores the importance of the healthcare ecosystem acting as one. COVID-19 is testing what is arguably society’s most valuable commodity: Trust. Mutual trust and partnership between the private healthcare sector and governments is crucial in battling the virus at a time when there is a shortage of test kits and limited bandwidth at public hospitals.
As a private healthcare provider, we are ready to be an extension of public healthcare systems and lend our support where we can across our global network. I am extremely proud of our battalion of brave warriors in the likes of nurses and doctors, ambulance drivers, temperature screeners, customer service officers, housekeepers and F&B crew, who put themselves out on the front line of this battle every single day. Our people are our topmost priority. We are committed to keep them safe and protect their livelihoods so they can take better care of their families and our patients.
Even when the curve flattens and it is under control, we can expect that the virus – or a variation of it – will be back. But it is up to us, the international medical community, governments, regulators and global organisations to come together, fight and learn from this experience so we are better prepared for any new challenges that may come our way.
Across our markets, IHH is helping our communities stay safe and informed during the pandemic. Here are a few examples.
