When a migrant worker who had recovered from COVID-19 at Gleneagles Hospital Singapore found himself without clean clothes to wear upon discharge, Senior Staff Nurse Rajah Kamarul Zaman, who was part of his care team, gave him a fresh set of clothes which he took from home. The simple act of kindness inspired a spontaneous mini charity drive among the hospital staff, many of whom were eager to help these foreign patients who contributed greatly to Singapore’s economy and society. By word of mouth, staff began to donate clothes and daily essentials such as toiletries. By the same weekend, they had lovingly put together 60 discharge care packs to be given to all recovered migrant workers to help them settle in as they move to their newly assigned dormitories.
